Sound of "Dagu", the traditional Chinese drum, broke the silence in the theater studio Ismail Marzuki Park, a prominent place in the arts of Indonesia's capital Jakarta, as the harbingers of the opening of the China-Indonesia Cultural Art Festival Friday evening.
Four performers wearing lion suit, five young women musicians, lion dance performed for about two minutes, by singing the national anthem Indonesia Raya, or Great Indonesia, followed by all participants accompanied.
After speeches by several officials, the event was officially opened by Mara Oloan Siregar, Assistant to the Public Welfare in Jakarta local government, the Governor Fauzi Bowo Jakarta by striking the Chinese drum open.
The lion dance was performed again. The dancers wear red and white costumes, the colors of the Indonesian flag, jumped about, running around and moving their bodies beautiful.
Fajar Gita Nusantara Indonesia choir or chorus Dawn Song followed with their angelic voices. Twenty-six middle-aged Chinese Indonesian women wear red and white suits sang two Chinese songs, accompanied by the sound of the piano.
Firman Ichsan, Executive Chairman of Art Council of the Jakarta (DKJ), said: "We hope that the cultural achievements of the art of Chinese discourses in Indonesia and discussions arose could esteem increase, respect and wisdom in dealing with diversity."
He said that the setting is necessary to promote the peaceful life in the interest of the glorious nation.
Indonesia opened the two-day festival, the 65th Anniversary of the independence of the country with the implementation of the various unique Chinese performances such as lion dancing, classical Chinese music, product exhibition, Chinese culinary show, and moving pictures with the theme of independence and pluralism to remember.
